Opinio Juris Vol. 34:2 Symposium

YJIL Global Jurists' Panel

On September 24, 2009, the Yale Journal of International Law hosted a panel discussion of distinguished jurists in connection with the Law School's annual "Global Constitutionalism Seminar." Dean Robert Post moderated a lively discussion about the role of judges in domestic interpretation of international law and constitutional borrowing. Students had the opportunity to attend the panel discussion and to pose questions to the high court jurists.

YJIL Advisor Appointed Deputy Secretary of State

secretary_of_stateJames B. Steinberg, member of the board of advisors of The Yale Journal of International Law, was one of today's three nominations of key members of the national security team.

Prior to becoming deputy national security advisor, Mr. Steinberg served as chief of staff of the U.S. State Department and director of the State Department’s policy planning staff (1994-1996), and as deputy assistant secretary for analysis in the Bureau of Intelligence and Research (1993-1994).
